The PICC line didn't get placed today but Dr. Z came to visit! He's the only Dr. that visits once a week even when it's not his week to be "on the floor". He said about three times with a bit of wonderment in his voice, "I can't believe she looks this good for all that she has going on!" She was looking around, very alert and content. He said that they were waiting on the most qualified person to insert the PICC line. It probably won't get done till Tuesday because of the weekend and Labor Day on Monday, so she will probably be in the ICU until then.
She got a visit from two nurses that work on the floor (Hem/Onc) where she's been. They are so funny and were talking to her and making her smile. We also got a nice visit from Tom and Arlene, our dear friends from church. She really loved the attention.

She got another infusion of potassium today. She didn't have any fevers today and her abdomen is nice and soft and she didn't even flinch when dr. Z checked her liver. Her abs are also a little bit smaller, though not the size they should be. He said he is concerned about her infection and fevers. Her blood culture came back positive for infection again but he explained that it's the blood in the actual tube from her central line that has bacteria in it, not her. The coating on the inside of the tube is such a substance (incl. plastic) that bacteria LOVE to attach too, and those bacteria are the ones showing up positive in her blood culture. They still have to remove the line once her counts go up to a healthy level.
So not much has changed, but I have a feeling she is going to only improve this weekend and we will have a bit of relief next week. Thanks for your prayers! Please keep praying for the same things, especially that her counts go up!
Laura she is so precious I just long to hold her for hours and stare at her. Love and hugs to you all.
