Our "day off"

Fridays are supposed to be Beto's day off. We look forward to sleeping in, eating pancakes, going shopping and maybe having lunch or ice cream as a family. Well, we still don't have Santi on a set schedule because missionary life is so unpredictable. Last night he went to bed early but that means he got up around 5:30! aarrrgh! and we were out of milk, so no pancakes. I had already planned to work on a bulletin board at church this afternoon with some other ladies so I had to talk to our pastor about future events to post on it. We ended up going over to his house and then realized that he could've just emailed me the list of announcements, which he did. Then we had to go to the internet cafe in town to print them (we haven't figured out yet how to hook up ours and the pastor's was out of ink!) On our way out the door the youth minister came up to the house on his bike. I had called him about youth group announcements but his calls weren't coming through to my phone (no surprise there, huh mom?) We all went to the interent together. there we saw Jorge and Miguel come in after school and we saw some other friends we talked to for awhile. By this time we were all hungry so we went to eat.

Earlier in the week I'd already made plans with a friend to go shopping for bulletin board materials and the ingredients for a special meal we're going to make on Sunday. She couldn't get together until 12:30, but since we were alraedy in town she walked about 2 miles into town from her job. We went to shop and all the shops were closed for lunch! At least a little beauty suppply store was open so we got some pretty girly things while we waited for Beto to pick us up. She ended up going back by her house in our car because we had to go home for me to pick up my books for tutoring (i'm giving some english classes to some kids).
By this time it was 2pm and time to tutor and my friend and I hadn't done any shopping together.
The youth minister had left his bike at our house so he loaded it into the car and went along out of the way so beto could drop me off. we kind of passed his house which is kind of in front of ours but there's a large field separating them, so he kind of had to pass his house to take me to work then go all the way back to take him home.
my friend Crystal went shopping with Beto, Santi, Jorge and Miguel while I tutored then picked me up and Beto took us straight to the church to work on the bulletin board. I will take pictures of the finished project. It took 3 of us (plus some little helpers) almost 4 hours but it's worth it!
While we were there Beto, Jorge and Miguel took all our trash from our back yard to the dump.
There is a trash pickup here in town but we've never looked into it. We couldn't burn our trash for the last 3 months because of all the rain, so we'd just throw the bags CLOSE to the burning barrel but then dogs would come in the night and tear up the bags.

Around 7 we had a short meeting at the church with a small group of youth that are going to be in a discipleship group we will be leading in our house Friday nights. since this was the first night we just had a short meeting about schedule, food, etc.

Then we took Miguel and JOrge to the video store where we all picked out a movie, came home, ate dinner and now all the boys are starting the movie.

Miguel and Jorge saw me eating peanut butter and apples and said it smelled really good! They'd never had PB before so I made them their first ever PB & J sandwich and they inhaled them! They of course ate them with milk but added like 2 tablespoons of sugar in their cup! They will be spending the night tonight for the first time and we are all very happy. Santi, Jorge, and Miguel play together like brothers and they help clean the house. They took a hot shower tonight and are in Beto's clothes while I'm washing thiers.
They went to school all this past week and are really loving it.
Please continue to pray for them and us as we continue building our relationship.
